About Me

Watercolor artist karen Nevis

Artist Statement:

My art is a medium to express what I see and when I paint it, it takes on a life of its own.  I love when a viewer takes away a new perspective or emotes even a slight reaction.  By channeling energy into my work it lifts and expands within the subject matter.

Being an artist is a lifelong dream and to be making art is my greatest joy.  I love learning new things, experiencing a new place or seeing it in a fresh way.  Capturing the essence of a vision into a painting is the excitement for me.  It is my expression manifested through color, shape and energy.

Karen received her BA degree in Fine Art from California State University, Sacramento.  She has held positions including Art Director, Graphic Designer, Free-lance Artist, Photographer and had her own advertising agency for 9 years.  In 1998 she began to paint watercolor full time.  Karen is a Santa Cruz County Open Studio artist.  She also does commissioned paintings.
